Owner and Chief Instructor
Mr. Rodness has been training in martial arts for 30 years and is a 5th degree black belt in Tae Kwon do. He has credentials in several martial art disciplines; He is a black belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu under Charuto Verissimo Nova Uniao; is a full instructor in JKD Unlimited Mixed Martial Arts for the Street™; and has a certification in Kali (battlefield) both under Burton Richardson, who has trained with some of the best Kali, Eskrima, Arnis, masters in the world.

In addition to his credentials Mr. Rodness has extensive training in Muay Thai and has attended the famous (Fairtex) Muay Thai camp in San Francisco. He has trained in Okinawan Weapons (Kobudo) and is proficient in using the bo-staff, sai, nunchaku, kama and tonfa. As well as training with Burton Richardson, Mr. Rodness has trained with Randy Couture, Baret Yoshida, Egan Inoue and Charuto Verissimo who are some of the best MMA teachers and fighters in the world.

Mrs RodnessRebecca E. Rodness
Owner, Certified Instructor and Program Director
Mrs. Rodness, a second degree black belt, has been training in the art of taekwondo since 1994. In addition to the years she has dedicated to training, Mrs. Rodness is also a certified Instructor and Program Director for their school. As Program Director she is responsible for promoting the philosophy of “Black Belt Excellence” focusing on self-control, respect and goal setting in a fun and positive environment. Her dedication and commitment to training also brings her joy when she is out on the floor teaching future black belts of all ages.

Stacy started her training at age 10. After watching classes for months she finally decided to try a class... her sister, Mrs. Rodness, soon followed in her footsteps, at age 25. Stacy quickly was very determined to enter her first competition at low-green belt. She was hooked after winning 1st place in sparring and 3rd place in forms. She continued to compete for the next 7 years of her training.

Ms. Wong also trained in the JKDU and Cardio Kik-Bo classes as well as TKD making her a well rounded Martial Artist. In addition to her dedication to training, she also was the Leader/Manager of the RMAC Demo Team for many years. She choreographed and led the team through many performances with the Sacramento Kings and Monarchs as well as the UCD Aggies.

Martial Arts is a very important part of her life and she tries to make time to continue her training since it has given her the strength and determination to get where she is today.

Instructor Trainee
Mr. Kuroda, currently a third degree black belt, has been training in the art of Taekwondo for almost 15 years since the age of four. He trained under Mr. Steve Rodness [1996 to date] and Master Michael Ajay [1993 to 1996]. In addition, he also has training in Jeet Kune Do which began in 2006. Consistent training in martial arts over the years has had a positive influence o his life from both a physical and mental fitness perspective.

In addition to teaching both children and adult Taekwondo classes, his leadership roles also include co-leader of the RMAC demonstration team. The demo team performed during halftime for the Sacramento Kings, Sacramento Monarchs and UCD Aggies.

All Scott’s years of training has helped him stay focused and achieve goals he set for himself in both the martial arts and school. His future goals include continued training in the martial arts, working toward earning his fourth degree black belt in Taekwondo. Outside of the martial arts, he is attending Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo working toward his degree in Computer Engineering.

Instructor Trainee
Dr. Raymond W. Spore, or "Mr. Spore" began training at Rodness Martial Arts Center in 2000. Through his constant work and persistance, he has now earned the rank of third Dan (3rd degree). He began as an assistant instructor at RMAC in April 2003. When he is not "playing" with all his friends at RMAC, he spends time at his day job as a busy Davis Chiropractor. When he is not healing or teaching, he can be found riding or racing his motorcycles, his bicycles, or just running down some mountainous trail for fun. Besides his Rodness family, Mr.Spore has two amazing kids, Kelby, and Taryn. Both of which have earned their junior second degree blackbelts at RMAC.

Instructor Trainee
Dana came to Rodness' Martiall Arts in 2001, looking for a karate school for her daughter. After watching for a year, Dana decided she wanted to start training. She was hooked! Dana has participated in various sports since childhood and felt that Taekwondo was a sport she could continue througn the rest of her life.

Dana is currently training for her third degree black belt which she expects to receive in the Spring of 2009. Through teaching, she is able to share her love of martial arts with her students and finds it very rewarding.

Jim began training at Rodness Martial Arts Center in March 2003, at age 47, with no prior experience. It all began when his 6 year old son wanted to try Martial Arts. Jim decided to try it along with him. A couple of months later, Jim’s wife and daughter wanted to get into the act, and now the whole family trains at RMAC.

Jim received his first degree black belt in 2005, and in February 2006 began training to be an instructor. Jim was awarded his red trainee instructor’s collar in April 2006 and received his 2nd degree black belt in November, 2006. Jim is currently working toward his goals of receiving his 3rd degree black belt (2008), and becoming a fully certified instructor.

Students are expected to

  • Arrive 10 - 15 minute prior to scheduled class
  • Pull attendance card after changing into uniform
  • Keep uniforms neat, clean and odor-free
  • Quietly prepare for class, do not disturb classes that are in session
  • Show respect to instructors and students
  • Always be well-mannered and behave properly
  • Attend class on a consistent basis
  • Show proper effort and spirit in the classroom
  • Practice and exercise at home for better results
  • Memorize and apply the Tenants of Taekwondo
  • Develop and maintain a positive well-disciplined attitude
